Insomnia Pt. 1
She is at the beach? The playground? The handball court...no..maybe the chess area...yeah, that's it. She is at the Chess Area at the park. There are fences and concrete. Why is she there?
She looks around at the sunny day. Nice and warm too. Birds in the sky, people talking, and kids playing.
There are people playing chess. She pays them no mind. She doesn't know them. Just faces in the crowd of players. She passes the players tables one by one from behind a tall wire fence. They are intent on their games. She moves closer to the gate. There is something she needs to see. The faces.
One face looks familiar to her. A blast from the past. He is sitting at one of the tables...is he talking to someone, or playing someone? She can't tell. Her vision seems to be focused on him. Once her eyes seem to have gotten all the information it needs, they move across the table to the person next to him. Another familiar face. This one not so far in the past. She starts to feel uneasy. Both people have a commonality...like the 6 degrees of separation. She leaves it be. Strange things for a strange day. She doesn't even know where she is anyway. Then, she realizes there is a third person at the table. At first she doesn't know who it is. She just stares. Her brain is not fixing on this figure though she can see him clearly...the degree that connects the separation...
She cannot believe her eyes. She knows this can't be right. He cannot be here because....well...he just can't. He can't be anywhere. He does not exist in her life, but the reality is there...he is there...which means...he IS in her life...which means...she will never get away...
Her hands are grasping the fence. She can feel the metal under her fists but she can't move to let go. She wants to run, but then he may see her. The Boogie Man...The man who haunts her...The figure she suppresses in the light, but creeps out in the night. Plaguing her dreams...
She wakes up...
No more..not again...please..
